You go into the kitchen...
The light from the kitchen windows is not the best but makes it easy enough to get around without walking into things. You are thankful the house is on the corner of the street so you have light coming in from the sidewalk to the house’s left.
You see a door that surely leads to the basement, it is open to a dark stairwell and cob webs hanging from the door frame.
You start checking the cupboards. You are in the middle of going through cupboards when you notice, strangely that one of the overhead cupboards is empty and goes back far enough that it seems to go through the wall.
You climb on to the counter to reach to the back and when you hit it, it seems to push something forward and you can vaguely see into the next room. You don’t know why that worked, but you are interested in check the living room as well.
If it was locked from the inside, it would be hard for the husband to crawl back and forth after having shot himself. Yet, it could have been locked later on or the door just stuck, so it might be the best place to look.
Do you crawl through into the living room or turn around to search elsewhere?
